Two raw materials are needed when an engine is working: gasoline and air. Gasoline is purchased by us and added to the car's fuel tank. After being filtered by the fuel supply system, it is sent into the engine combustion chamber to mix with air for combustion. However, air doesn't need to be purchased. We can just take it directly. So how does the air enter the engine? Does it also need to be filtered? Let's discuss this matter today.

Air filter

It is caused by the inability to filter the air properly. This vehicle is equipped with a single-stage dry paper air filter element. However, the working environment at our site is extremely harsh with a lot of dust. This filter element cannot filter out the dust in the air completely, and a large amount of dust enters the engine, causing abnormal wear of the engine. Later, at my suggestion, the air filter of this vehicle was changed to a two-stage system. The first stage was an oil bath type air filter, and the second stage was a dry paper filter element. After the transformation was completed, the service life of the engine was significantly prolonged, and there were no more faults such as lower exhaust.

The air filter of the engine is very important. If it doesn't work well, the engine will suffer abnormal damage. Therefore, we must attach great importance to the inspection and maintenance of air filters.

How does air enter the engine?

When the engine is in operation, it is divided into four strokes, among which one is the intake stroke. During this stroke, the engine piston descends, creating a vacuum in the intake pipe and drawing air into the engine combustion chamber to mix and burn with gasoline.

Then, can the air around us be directly supplied to the engine for use? The answer is no. We know that engines are very precise mechanical products and have extremely strict requirements for the cleanliness of raw materials. The air contains a certain amount of impurities, which can cause damage to the engine. Therefore, the air must be filtered before entering the engine. The device that filters the air is the air filter, commonly known as the air filter element.
