Although people have a deeper understanding of filters and know that inferior filters can easily destroy expensive fuel injectors, they do not know that the wrong installation process is equally dangerous.

Indeed, the replacement process is very simple, but many people make irreparable mistakes in this simple process. What specific error is it? That is to fill the inside of the filter with oil before installing it.
The practice of filling the interior with oil before installing a filter is actually very common, whether it is a diesel filter or an oil filter, most people will do this.
In fact, it is understandable to fill the oil filter with oil before installation, because new oil has better cleanliness and the oil filter cannot be manually vented. After filling with oil, it can reduce the time for the oil to reach the lubrication area and protect the engine.
But if the diesel filter is still operated in this way, it will have the opposite effect. Almost all old-fashioned diesel engines use mechanical pump fuel injection systems, which do not have high requirements for fuel cleanliness. In addition, the small displacement of the manual fuel pump makes it very difficult to exhaust after replacing the filter. Therefore, people at that time invented this alternative method of pre filling fuel without exhaust.
Since the engine entered the era of common rail, the fuel system, especially the injectors, has become very precise. Even a slight impurity can cause expensive injectors to be scrapped. However, many people continue to use the previous fuel injection method to replace the filter, resulting in unfiltered diesel directly entering the inner cavity of the filter. If the diesel contains particulate impurities at this time, it will directly cause wear and damage to the injectors.
The correct replacement method is to first remove the old filter, then directly install the new filter onto the filter base, loosen the air release bolt on the base or oil pump, press the hand oil pump to exhaust until the new filter is filled and there are no bubbles on the exhaust bolt.
Due to the large internal filtering area and capacity of current filters, the exhaust process may be slower. Don't be afraid of trouble, just press the manual oil pump a few more times.
The maintenance experience passed down from experienced drivers is certainly valuable, but there are also many vehicles that are no longer suitable for today. So we must also keep up with the times and abandon the outdated imperial calendar, otherwise these outdated methods may cause us unpredictable losses.
